One type of personal communication is a thank you note.  A thank you note is a short paragraph or two to thank someone for a gift or for something done for you.  In our case, it is to thank the person you have interviewed for donating their time to help you with your career research project.

A sample format is below.

Dear Mr. Smith,

    Thank you for allowing me to interview you about your job as an electrician.  I appreciate the time that you spent with me to answer my questions.  It will be very beneficial to me as I complete my career research project for my sophomore English class.
