Begin researching various careers by using the computer resources below, talking to people in the community and reading books available at home, school or the local library.  After finding information on the careers you are interested in, you will begin writing and illustrating a book.  You will write your book using a word processor.  Each page will list what you want to be and explain what that occupation involves and why you are interested in it.  The illustrations can be clip art, scanned or drawn on with crayons or markers.  You will also take your picture using a digital camera or regular camera which can be scanned on to the final page in the book.  A hole will then be cut in each page revealing your photograph.  As you write each page, please illustrate yourself performing the occupation described, using your photograph as the head of your illustration.

Resources

BLS Career Information - will help you find out what careers are available to you based on which subjects you like in school.

Career Coloring Book - This coloring book is made up of links to thumbnail pictures of people with various careers.

Occupational Outlook Handbook is by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Countdown Interest Survey - In this Interest Survey you'll rate 70 items based on whether you think you'd enjoy them. It doesn't matter if you can do them--for example, you're not performing heart surgery right now. Evaluation

The evaluation of this WebQuest will be done in two parts.  The teacher will use the Career Rubric to assess students on the basis of mechanics, content, appearance, organization and completeness. The second part asks you, the student, to complete a self-evaluation that reflects on your study of careers.  The teacher will use your self-evaluation to score your project too.
